Lawrence evokes a relationship with the music that is all about love. He feels it is important for people to know the “burden of love.” Not in a manner that gets in the way, but in a way that all of life’s trials and tribulation can be transformed through love. He looks to use his music to motivate people to express love, to walk love, to talk love and to be love. Lawrence, native to the deep south, was born in Mississippi. His humble upbringing would be considered meager and without significant fanfare except for his genius and passion for music. The remarkable gift grabbed him at the early age of six and it hasn’t let go. He came to California with his family at the age of 12 and began singing in church. His gospel music background was strengthened with classical training and his repertoire grew through discipline and commitment.

Lawrence is real, raw and compassionate. He continuously pushes the envelope of music with a sensibility often overlooked when blending an enormous sound for a new generation. His recent work as a recording artist, songwriter, producer and actor cuts to the chase of intimate relationships and unquieted love. He puts his heart into each project and creates an authentic style that is uniquely his own. Whether it is an old Negro Spiritual, a rendition of Paul Robeson, Christian Contemporary or an adult contemporary love ballad, Lawrence digs deep and brings the inside out. His sound offers a kaleidoscope of the great voices who influenced his musical career; the depth of Barry White, the soul of Mahalia Jackson, the honesty of Bill Withers, the power of Luther Vandross to name a few. His current projects include a sophisticated, earthy selection of RnB love ballads that are filled with life experiences for every listener. His talent, good looks, sensuality and good humor endear him to fans, as does the humility and human kindness he demonstrates throughout his life. His charismatic style engages an audience of one or thousands. It may seem amazing that Lawrence’s first CD sold over 52,000 copies, with no formal distribution, to individuals who had never heard his music; they only knew that his awesome attitude was inspiring and empowering.
